Constance and Felecia pose after winning a Communication Award for our monthly newsletter, the President's Pen and our Member Brochure at the State Meeting of the Florida Education Association Annual Meeting. Don't they look happy to take home this award? Thanks everyone - members make these events happen!
The Clay County Education Retired take their second award at the Florida Education Association Retired Annual Meeting. Constance is happy to accept the Volunteer Award for Clay County Education Retired with the average member working 115 volunteer hours during our first year. Special thanks to Kim Tracanna-Breault. We earned a certificate in two of the four categories. Not bad for our first year in existence. Thanks everyone - keep tracking those volunteer hours. She wants a repeat performance. And now she wants a membership award too.
Clay County Education Retired with the FEA Retired have 2 winners for the 2023 Innovative Grant. Our winners are Erin Bodenschatz from a Orange Park High and Tracy Johnston from Thunderbolt Elementary. Constace visited the schools and presented the grant letters as these teachers were recognized by their peers. Congratulations ladies. Thanks to the administrators at the schools for allowing us time at their faculty meetings to make the presentations.
Clay County Education Retired attended and manned a table the BASCA (Building Abilities of Special Children and Adults) 5 K Run. We signed up children for the Dolly Parton Imagination and sold raffle tickets for a Little Library. Constance and Lucy manned the table and of course, we took a picture. The weather was great, and the kids were adorable.
The Clay County Education Association began a teacher exchange in 2001 for teachers to get classroom supplies from retired educators at Dunbar Elmentary. The project outgrew the association and was taken over by the Clay Education Foundation and expanded to new supplies for teachers. Four times a year teachers visit Garber Mall in Green Cove and shop for free. Clay County Education Retired continues to support the efforts of the Foundation by assisting with the accounting functions. Cheryl, Tara, Melondia and Constance have worked here. The next event is in January.
